My experiences in the shareware world
├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├├
Twice before I tried the shareware market. My first experience, with
Joute, brought me absolutely nothing. My mistake had probably to do
with providing a fully functional version of Joute. Users were not
required to register with the author. In my naivete, I believed in the
good will of Atari users.
The second time around, with Rayoid, only three users, at the time
of this writing, have been honest enough to register. The Rayoid
version presently available on BBSes does not allow saving of scores,
personal profile, etc. But the game itself is fully playable. And I
paid a lot of attention to details that would seem trivial or which
you may never notice.
As Rayoid was nearing completion, work on TitEd had already begun.
Here again, committed to quality in the smallest details, I spent many
long hours designing and refining TitEd. Unfortunately, experience has
taught me that it is necessary to take steps to ensure that my efforts
do not remain fruitless. That's why TitEd's SAVE functions have been
disabled.
Why be dissatisfied with Atari's decisions and support if you, the
users, don't even bother supporting authors who feed you software for
your machine?
At this time, another project is about to be finalized, and should
be released within the next two or three weeks. But I must look at the
obvious: in the last months, I've spent long days developing quality
software for your Atari. It is therefore clear to me that, if my work
goes unrewarded, I'll have no motivation in further producing software
of interest for BBSes. It is not my intent to threaten or lecture, but
to simply state the facts. Would you do otherwise in my place?

The author wishes to thank...
